We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Animal Veterinarian to join our team at the University of Georgia. As a key member of our Animal Resources department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of our laboratory animals.
About the RoleThis is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a veterinarian to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment. You will be responsible for providing high-quality veterinary care to our laboratory animals, including routine health checks, medical procedures, and emergency care.
Responsibilities- Provide veterinary care to laboratory animals, including routine health checks, medical procedures, and emergency care
- Develop and implement animal care protocols to ensure the health and well-being of our laboratory animals
- Collaborate with research teams to ensure the humane treatment and care of animals in research settings
- Participate in training and education programs to stay up-to-date on the latest animal care and welfare standards
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary program
- Experience working with laboratory animals, preferably in a research setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with research teams and other stakeholders
- Knowledge of animal care and welfare standards, including those related to laboratory animal research
