The position of Adaptive Swim Instructor involves teaching swimming techniques and water safety skills to individuals with disabilities under the supervision of the Adaptive Programs Manager.

This role requires good leadership, a professional appearance and attitude, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic. Essential skills include the ability to work well with people, teach, motivate, instill trust, and ensure a positive working environment.

General Responsibilities:

  • Teach adaptive water safety/swim lessons to individuals with disabilities.
  • Document daily attendance, complete assessments, and maintain necessary data in Athena platform.
  • Be prompt and prepared to begin sessions on time, organize equipment prior to a session, and put equipment away when finished.
  • Display professional behavior and be accountable for the safety and positive learning experience for each individual.
  • Respond to family, guardian, and caregiver concerns and problems when necessary.
  • Prepare semi-annual/annual reports reflecting individuals' progress and behavioral responses while attending lessons.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Attend in-service training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Working Conditions:

The work is performed outdoors with potentially inclement weather conditions. Some local travel may be required. This role requires regular contact with the public, working under pressure, exercising sound judgment, and adhering to deadlines.
