Application Development Supervisor

The State of Montana is seeking a highly skilled Application Development Supervisor to lead a team responsible for developing, integrating, and maintaining internal software applications. The successful candidate will have a combination of leadership, management, analytical, technical, and soft skills, gained through a diverse work experience.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of computer science, operating systems, relational databases, and software development. They will be able to gather clear business requirements, communicate and confirm understanding, and provide guided solutions for both the agency and ITB staff.

The Application Development Supervisor position includes a career ladder for professional development and pay progression. The successful candidate will have the ability to mentor and coach team members, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of software developers and analysts
  • Developing and implementing software applications
  • Providing technical guidance and support
  • Mentoring and coaching team members
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to gather business requirements

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in project management, computer programming, systems analysis, data reporting, end-user training and support, and new product evaluation and implementation
  • Demonstrated experience in leading people is required, although this may be from roles other than formal supervisory experience
