About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Civil Engineering Manager to lead our Data Center design team at Amazon Web Services. As a key member of our Americas Design Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading a team of civil engineers in the design of data center critical infrastructure systems.

Your primary focus will be on facilitating weekly meetings with staff, resource planning, evaluating external consultants, addressing design issues, and ensuring the quality of civil engineering designs. You will also drive process improvements within your team, lead design standardization, and effectively communicate design standards to internal and external project partners.

Additionally, you will collaborate with other design disciplines and security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk, and benefits of designs, and facilitate design discussions. You will also manage our external civil design consultants through the Data Center design and construction process, reviewing vendor-provided designs for site layout, grading, power substations, storm water, utilities, and pavement.

As a seasoned civil engineer with 10+ years of experience in commercial, warehouse, and/or industrial site-civil design, you will have a deep understanding of building codes, regulations, and standards, including IBC and ASCE. You will also have demonstrated ability to manage engineering professionals, evaluate the design and constructability of site design by third-party consultants, and manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
