About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Service Technician to join our team. As a Technician, you will provide exceptional customer service by working on material handling equipment at customer locations or within our branch shop. You will perform mechanical repairs to ensure equipment is running at its full performance, providing our customers with effective and efficient equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain all material handling equipment for customer work orders assigned to you.
  • Accept repair orders as assigned by the Service Writer.
  • Communicate with customers on diagnosed repairs suggested or required for repair and obtain customer approvals.
  • Read work orders, observe, and listen to trucks in operation to determine/diagnose malfunction or problem(s).
  • Offer solutions to meet customer specifications.
  • Provide estimates when appropriate.
  • Repair, service, recondition, or assemble equipment as approved by the customer/Service Manager.
  • Obtain necessary parts working cooperatively with the Parts department staff.
  • Makes mechanical repairs to equipment after a complete inspection and analysis of breakdown has been completed.
  • Record complete repair description on work order, including correct model and serial number of equipment and records hour meter reading.
  • Obtain signature from customer and communicate with them on repair needs or work that was completed.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, specified safety devices on truck and makes adjustments.
  • Lubricate moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Always maintain a professional image of self, cleanliness of van (externally and internally) and of assigned work area at customer site.
  • Maintain and operate shop equipment and tools.
  • Notify Service Manager or Supervisor of safety issues and/or accidents immediately.
  • Perform quality work as quickly and professionally as possible.
  • Promote marketing efforts to drive parts, service, equipment, and rental sales.
  • Complete service forms and submit directly to the Service department daily via work tablet.
  • Adapt and act out the company's core value - Safety Always - At All Times, In All Places.
  • Willingness to accept new duties and responsibilities as assigned by direct manager.
Hours of Work

2:30 P.M. - 11:00 P.M.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record; CDL may be required.
  • Experience in forklift repair is desired, intermediate maintenance experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to work under little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to provide own tools for the job immediately; annual tool incentive is given.
Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 3+ years of mechanic experience and/or education relating to the position.
  • Basic knowledge of computer and internet software.

  • The conditions the worker will be submitted to in this position:
    • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
    • The worker is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for period of more than one hour. Worker may also be subject to other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.
