Job Summary

The Plant Maintenance Technician is a critical role within Waste Management's recycling operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all plant systems and equipment, including balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, and bearings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain the operation of all plant systems and equipment
  • Respond to system failures by taking corrective action and completing or assigning repairs as needed
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PM) and diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components
  • Establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and advise senior management if additional work is needed
  • Inspect the quality of third-party repairs and/or rebuilds
  • Recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, and product quality
Requirements
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and physical
  • Proficient in welding and fabrication
  • Knowledge of single and three-phase electrical systems
  • Knowledge of electrical control systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems, including air compressors
Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to physical demands, including:

  • Pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting objects over 50 pounds
  • Working from ladders or raised platforms
  • Standing or working on concrete floors for extended periods
