Mental Health Crisis Responder

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Crisis Responder to join our team at Gulf Coast Center. As a key member of our crisis services team, you will play a vital role in providing rapid response mobile crisis services to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises in Galveston and Brazoria counties.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for responding to crisis calls, conducting assessments, and providing intensive crisis follow-up services to ensure that individuals receive the necessary support to stabilize their crises and transition to regular centers or community services.
Key Responsibilities- Respond immediately to emergency calls, triaged by the hotline as acuity status Emergent, Urgent, Hospital Triage, or Jail Diversion calls.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify individual needs and strengths.
- Develop and implement crisis intervention plans to address immediate concerns.
- Provide ongoing support and case management services to ensure successful transition to regular centers or community services.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, local hospitals, judiciary, and other social service agencies to resolve crisis needs.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the Behavioral Science field of study.
- General knowledge of mental health disorders and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Self-motivated with good time management skills and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish cooperative relationships with individuals in crisis situations.
- Ability to work within a team approach and maintain regular attendance.
This is a PRN position, requiring flexibility to work different shifts or on-call as needed to meet program needs. The ideal candidate will have a valid Texas driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto liability insurance. Travel may be required to various locations within Brazoria and Galveston Counties.
CompensationWe offer a competitive hourly rate of $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
