About the Role

As a Mental Health Technician/Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs. Your primary responsibility will be to work under the guidance of a registered nurse to carry out delegated tasks and provide emotional support to patients.

You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, responding to emergencies and prioritizing tasks accordingly. Your excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure will be essential in ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing emotional support and comfort to patients
  • Assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Recording data and performing treatments and procedures according to established policies and procedures
  • Reporting observations and patient problems to licensed nurses
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent education
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (CMA) in an acute care hospital setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification from CPI
