Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Technician/Assistant to join our team at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering compassionate and personalized care to patients. You will work closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and implementation of delegated tasks under the supervision of registered nurses.
  • Assist with group facilitation, perform treatments and procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Record data and reports observations and patient problems to licensed nurses.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and clean environment by following infection control protocols and reporting any malfunctions or concerns to management.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training programs to enhance knowledge and skills necessary for performing job duties.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or a minimum of three years of experience as a nursing assistant or medical assistant.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) certification.
  • NVCRISIS - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) OR If certificate is not Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), post date of hire within 30 days.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a customer service-focused manner.
Working Conditions

This is a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. You may be required to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Regular travel to conduct home visits may also be necessary.

The estimated salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
