Job Summary

Merrick Community Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employment and Career Services Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the management, supervision, planning, coordination, and implementation of all aspects of our workforce services to individuals. This includes training programs, job search services, and related supportive functions for adults and youth.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in workforce development and program administration, with the ability to provide culturally sensitive direct service to individuals from diverse backgrounds. You will possess knowledge and understanding of the multiple needs and barriers of individuals and families living in poverty, and demonstrate creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development and implementation of workforce services, including training programs, job search services, and related supportive functions.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers responsible for hands-on planning, recruitment, training, placement, and follow-up and tracking of program participants.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote employment opportunities and services.
  • Manage and coordinate the delivery of employment and training services, including job search support, occupational training opportunities, and other support services for program participants.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve program outcomes, including placement rates, job retention, and participant satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of services.
  • Develop and manage budgets and financial reports to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in workforce development and program administration, and apply this knowledge to improve program services and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, education, or business.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in workforce development and program administration.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of workforce development principles and practices, including job search support, occupational training opportunities, and other support services.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies to improve program outcomes, including placement rates, job retention, and participant satisfaction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data to inform program decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
