Position Title: Center Aide / Center Aide Custodian
Department: Focus: HOPE Early Learning & Youth Development
Reports To: Site Leader
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Center Aide is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the facility, including offices and restrooms. This role involves routine manual tasks with regular checks on previously cleaned areas.
Additionally, the position includes providing essential support to preschool children, fostering their growth and development across various domains.
Key Duties- Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, furniture, windows, and carpets.
- Sanitize lavatories effectively.
- Ensure classroom equipment is cleaned and sanitized.
- Manage waste disposal and maintain cleanliness in trash areas.
- Keep track of custodial supply inventory.
- Document activities as required.
- Engage with children in a nurturing and supportive manner.
- Demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and teamwork in a dynamic environment.
- Work independently to complete assigned tasks.
- Interact with large groups, particularly preschool-aged children.
- Ensure daily activities align with the program's mission and objectives.
- Welcome and assist families, children, and visitors as necessary.
- Provide support in preschool classrooms and during meal times.
- Encourage conversation during family-style meals with children.
- Facilitate self-service during meal times.
- Assist children in setting the table and cleaning up post-meal.
- Monitor children during lunch and outdoor play.
- Perform weekly refrigerator cleaning.
- Rotate food supplies to utilize older items first.
Ability to communicate effectively with young children and their families is essential. The role requires a commitment to collaboration and respect for all individuals, regardless of their background.
QualificationsRequired Skills:
- Strong dedication to civil and human rights.
- Familiarity with cleaning practices and procedures.
- Capability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
- Ability to remain standing for extended periods.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
The individual in this role is accountable to their supervisor for completing tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. A professional demeanor, positive attitude, and willingness to engage in professional development are expected.
Education and ExperiencePreferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED certification is preferred. Candidates without these qualifications will be given a grace period to enroll in a certification program.
- Those with a high school diploma or GED upon hire will have a grace period to enroll in a CDA certification program.
- Maintain awareness of Licensing and Performance Standards.
- Exemplary customer service and problem-solving skills, with flexibility to adapt.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
