PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

The Center Aide is accountable for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility, including offices and restrooms. This role encompasses routine manual tasks with consistent follow-up on previously cleaned areas.

Additionally, the position involves providing essential support to staff working with preschool children, fostering age-appropriate growth and development across various domains.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Ensure cleanliness of floors, walls, furniture, windows, and carpets.
  2. Maintain lavatories in a sanitary condition.
  3. Sanitize classroom equipment regularly.
  4. Manage waste disposal and keep trash areas tidy.
  5. Oversee inventory of custodial supplies assigned to the role.
  6. Document activities as required.
  7. Engage with children in a nurturing and supportive manner.
  8. Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and teamwork in a dynamic environment.
  9. Work independently to complete assigned tasks.
  10. Interact with large groups, particularly preschool-aged children.
  11. Ensure daily activities align with the program's mission and objectives.
  12. Welcome and assist families, children, and visitors as necessary.
  13. Provide support in preschool classrooms and during meal times.
  14. Encourage conversation and engagement during family-style meals.
  15. Facilitate self-service for children during meal times.
  16. Assist children in setting tables and cleaning up post-meal.
  17. Monitor and escort children during lunch and outdoor activities.
  18. Perform weekly cleaning of the refrigerator.
  19. Rotate food supplies to ensure freshness.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong dedication to civil and human rights.
  • Familiarity with cleaning and janitorial practices.
  • Capability to lift up to 75 pounds as necessary.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.

The individual in this role is responsible to their supervisor for the completion of tasks and adherence to high standards of accuracy and detail. Expectations include maintaining a professional demeanor, positive attitude, and willingness to engage in professional development opportunities as required. A strong commitment to civil and human rights is essential.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Preferred: High school diploma or GED certification. Candidates without these qualifications will be granted a grace period to enroll in a GED or high school diploma program, with a one-year completion timeline from the date of hire.
  • Candidates with a high school diploma or GED upon hire will have a grace period to enroll in a CDA certification program, with a one-year completion timeline from enrollment.
  • Maintain awareness of Licensing and Performance Standards.
  • Exemplary customer service and problem-solving skills, with flexibility in approach.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
