Position Overview

The Mechanized Trimmer Operator I-II plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and aesthetics of right-of-way areas. This position involves operating specialized vehicles and equipment to effectively complete various tasks and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate right-of-way vehicles and machinery to ensure safe and efficient project completion.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of chainsaws and safety gear, demonstrating proficiency in their operation.
  • Perform right-of-way clearing tasks, including bucket operations, climbing, ground clearing, cutting, chipping, piling, and burning of brush.
  • Utilize mechanized trimmers to maintain tree growth along right-of-way areas, halting work to report any safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on equipment and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.
  • Inspect the right-of-way ahead of equipment to identify and flag potential obstacles such as utility lines and other hazards.
  • Implement traffic control measures around work sites as necessary.
  • Understand and adhere to general safety regulations while fostering positive relationships with team members and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • This position is classified as safety-sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, requiring compliance with AECC/AECI standards.
  • Successful candidates must pass a post-offer, pre-employment Fitness for Duty Exam.
  • A minimum of 3 months of relevant experience or training is required.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including potentially hazardous situations.
  • Capability to endure extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and manual labor.
  • Willingness to travel to different locations and stay overnight as necessary.
  • Regular attendance and flexibility to work outside scheduled hours are essential for this role.
  • Compliance with training specified in 29 CFR a)(1)(i)(E) is required.
  • Proper safety footwear is mandatory, meeting ASTM standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a Commercial Applicator Technician.
  • Possession of a Class A or B CDL License.
  • Experience in Temporary Traffic Control.
