Position Overview

The Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Mechanized Trimmer Operator I-II. This position involves the operation of various vehicles and equipment to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks related to right-of-way maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and drive right-of-way vehicles and machinery as required for project completion.
  • Conduct daily inspections and perform maintenance on chainsaws and safety gear, ensuring safe operation.
  • Engage in right-of-way clearing activities, including climbing, ground clearing, cutting, chipping, and disposal of brush.
  • Utilize mechanized trimmers to maintain trees along the right-of-way, halting work to report any safety hazards to supervisors.
  • Maintain records of preventative maintenance performed on equipment.
  • Inspect the right-of-way in front of equipment to identify and flag potential obstacles.
  • Implement traffic control measures as necessary around the work site.
  • Foster a culture of safety by adhering to general safety rules and policies while promoting positive relations with team members and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • This role is classified as safety-sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593.
  • Successful candidates must complete a post-offer, pre-employment Fitness for Duty Exam.
  • A minimum of 3 months of relevant experience or training is required.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Willingness to work in extreme temperatures and loud environments.
  • Capability to perform repetitive physical tasks and travel as needed for assignments.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is essential, along with the flexibility to work outside of scheduled hours when necessary.
  • Compliance with specified training requirements.
  • Proper work boots must meet ASTM standards for protective footwear.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a Commercial Applicator Technician.
  • Possession of a Class A or B CDL License.
  • Experience with Temporary Traffic Control.
