Job Summary

As a Procurement Specialist I with the Cherokee Nation, you will play a critical role in purchasing supplies, services, and equipment in direct support of our programs. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cherokee Nation Policies & Procedures, and any supplemental agencies' rules, regulations, and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase supplies, services, and equipment in direct support of Cherokee Nation programs.
  • Review and process approved requisitions from Cherokee Nation programs.
  • Develop and administer bid documents, conduct bid meetings, and evaluate bid responses.
  • Use TERO certified vendors for micro-purchases and determine TERO preference order for award.
  • Act as primary enforcement for the use of TERO vendors when procuring goods and services.
  • Issue purchase orders, maintain software systems, and close encumbrances upon completion of the fiscal year or program request.
  • Draft agreements with vendors and maintain agreements in the system.
  • Serve as primary point-of-contact for Cherokee Nation programs and vendors.
  • Provide support and expertise to programs on software systems and resolve vendor payment issues.
Requirements
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 1-1/2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additional three (3) years of experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to work in a service/support environment, and flexibility to demands or needs of programs.
