Primary Purpose:
Teacher Aides play a crucial role in providing clerical and instructional assistance to classroom educators, allowing them to focus more on teaching and lesson planning. Responsibilities may include tutoring students, supervising students during breaks, managing discipline areas, recording academic performance, setting up labs or equipment, and preparing educational materials.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist teaching staff with various classroom duties.
- Record attendance and evaluate homework and tests using answer sheets.
- Distribute educational materials, including textbooks and stationery.
- Maintain discipline within the school environment.
- Facilitate small group sessions for tailored instructional support.
- Step in as a substitute for teachers during unexpected absences.
- Utilize educational aids such as projectors and audio equipment.
- Request library resources and stockroom supplies.
- Prepare instructional materials through typing and duplication.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s):
- Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; some college coursework is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience Requirements:
- Special Skills/Certifications: Must possess a valid Teacher Aide Certificate or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Communication Skills: Proficiency in communication is essential.
- Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.
- Technology: Familiarity with educational technology is preferred.
