Job Summary

Sovah Health - Danville is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct diagnostic testing and examinations to assess patients with breathing-related conditions.
  • Consult with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  • Perform physiotherapy and other treatments to help patients recover from respiratory illnesses.
  • Teach patients and their families about respiratory care and provide education on the use of medications.
  • Monitor and record patient condition, communicating with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures to ensure they are aligned with best practices and current research.
  • Respond to emergency situations and participate in code teams to provide critical care to patients.
  • Evaluate and initiate mechanical ventilation, weaning patients from the ventilator as needed.
  • Provide documentation of lab results and critical care information.
  • Educate patients and families about respiratory illnesses and provide information on community resources.
  • Monitor and maintain respiratory care supplies and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or a related field.
  • Graduate of a Program in Respiratory Care Therapist.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association within six months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association within six months of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification within six months of hire.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) or eligible to take the NBRC's Registered Respiratory Therapist exams and have passed the RRT exam within 18 months of hire.
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
