Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator provides leadership by collaborating with the Director/Designee to plan, organize, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate patient care. Care delivery is tailored to be age-appropriate and considers the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety, and learning needs of individual patients. Responsibilities encompass fiscal, human resource, and operational functions. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and operates within the philosophy and overall care plan at Swedish Medical Center, demonstrating positive support for the institution's goals, values, and mission.

Position Requirements

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or active multistate nursing licensure. Current BCLS certification through AHA or ARC.

B. Education:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field is required. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

C. Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of clinical RN experience is preferred. Two years of progressive supervisory or charge nurse experience is also preferred. Candidates should be able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of nursing theory and practice.

D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Demonstrates the ability to manage direct patient care and charge nurse responsibilities. Recognizes the needs and concerns of individuals and maintains constructive relationships in all interactions. Adheres to departmental safety initiatives. Communicates effectively in both oral and written forms. Participates in the counseling and guidance of personnel. Assumes a leadership role within the healthcare team in planning and delivering patient care.

1. Demonstrated competence with patient care information systems.

2. Strong planning, analytical, and written communication skills.

3. Ability to utilize and mentor others in the nursing process.

4. Proficient in using databases, spreadsheets, and word processing to analyze statistical reports.

5. Ability to educate, coach, and mentor staff using adult learning principles.
