Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Graphic Design and Web Development Teacher to join our team at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graphic design, web development, and digital media courses to high school students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Provide instruction and guidance in graphic design, web development, and digital media using industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in graphic design, web development, and digital media.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Web Development, or a related field.
  • 24 credit hours in the content area or passing the NC SBE Licensure Area Exam.
  • Completion of NCSBE Pre-service Requirements.
  • Enrollment in EPP (Educational Preparation Program).
  • 2 years of work experience in graphic design, web development, or a related field.
  • NCSBE approved specialty area exam.
  • NC DPI sponsored New Teacher Induction Program.
  • 40 Hour Induction beginning Year One.
Licensing/Certification Requirements
  • Possession of or ability to obtain NC State Licensure in Business Education.
  • Adobe Visual Design- Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator; Adobe Digital Design-ACA Adobe Dreamweaver; Adobe Video Design-ACA Adobe Premiere Pro.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of CMS Strategic Plan.
  • Knowledge of CMS policies, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of No Child Left Behind legislation.
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
  • Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and the community.
  • Ability to work confidentially and with discretion.
  • Excellent computer and reporting skills.
  • Ability to maintain positive internal relationships with other CMS departments and staff members.
  • Ability to maintain positive external relationships with parents, students and community groups.
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects, plan starting and ending deadlines, and successfully bring closure to projects.
  • Ability to multi-task, deal with a multitude of issues and problems that unexpectedly arise, prioritize issues that are time sensitive, and meet expected deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze problems, proactively anticipate problems, construct back-up plans, identify alternative solutions, anticipate expected and unexpected consequences of proposed actions, and provide defensible explanations for issues.
