Job Title: Certified Substance Abuse Counselor

The Newport News Sheriff's Office is seeking a highly skilled Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our treatment team, you will be responsible for providing counseling and support services to individuals struggling with substance abuse and addiction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to address client needs
  • Conduct assessments and screenings to identify client needs
  • Collaborate with medical staff to provide comprehensive care
  • Make referrals to community resources and services as needed
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a human services field (e.g. psychology, sociology, social work, counseling, public health)
  • CSAC certification
  • Two years of experience working in a human services field
  • Two or more years of experience working with adults with mental health/substance abuse disorders
