About the Role:

The Controller will play a crucial role in leading financial operations, ensuring the precision and reliability of all financial planning, reporting, and controls. This position is responsible for maintaining accounting practices in alignment with generally accepted accounting principles while providing insights and guidance to meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee financial reporting and budget management activities.
  • Establish benchmarks for evaluating financial and operational performance across departments.
  • Implement reporting metrics for early detection and resolution of performance issues.
  • Lead the monthly financial closing process.
  • Analyze monthly operating results against budget and prior year performance.
  • Direct daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable functions.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses.
  • Develop financial forecasts.
  • Conduct special projects and financial analyses for management discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial reporting requirements.
  • Establish departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with audits and recommend process improvements.
  • Coordinate and report on physical inventory results.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate accounting personnel.
  • Provide orientation on accounting policies for new staff.


Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, and internal controls in a manufacturing context.
  • CPA certification is advantageous.
  • Experience with ERP reporting systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations at various government levels.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree in finance, accounting, or economics is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a managerial accounting role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is expected.
