About the Role:
The Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial integrity and precision of all fiscal planning, reporting, and controls. This position is responsible for upholding the company's accounting practices in alignment with generally accepted accounting principles, while also providing valuable insights and guidance to help achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage financial reporting and budget oversight functions.
- Establish benchmarks for evaluating the financial and operational performance of the organization and its departments.
- Implement relevant reporting metrics for early detection and rectification of performance issues.
- Lead the monthly financial closing process.
- Analyze monthly operational results against budget and prior periods.
- Oversee daily operations of the accounting division.
- Manage accounts receivable and payable processes.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses.
- Develop financial forecasts.
- Conduct special projects and financial analyses for management discussions regarding product lifecycle and pricing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial reporting regulations.
- Establish departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operational procedures.
- Assist with audits as required and recommend process enhancements.
- Coordinate and report on physical inventory results.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate accounting personnel.
- Provide orientation on accounting policies for new hires.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in general ledger accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, and internal control principles within a manufacturing context, including a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- CPA certification is advantageous.
- Experience with ERP reporting systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare comprehensive financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting methodologies, including rolling budgets and product costing analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to motivate teams to deliver quality results under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
- Ability to lead and participate in group discussions.
- Advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree in finance, accounting, or economics is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial accounting role within a manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to adapt to a flexible work schedule as necessary.
