Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Elementary School Physical Education Teacher to join our team at Springfield Public Schools - MA. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive physical education program that meets the needs of students in grades PreK-8.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver physical education lessons that promote physical activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Develop and implement assessments to evaluate student progress and understanding.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate physical education with other subjects and promote a holistic approach to education.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in physical education and incorporate new ideas and technologies into the curriculum.
  • Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals and student teachers as needed.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with district initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Physical Education or a related field.
  • Appropriate content/program area educator license (Physical Education) and grade level (PreK-8) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Experience working with students in grades PreK-8.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
  • Knowledge of best practices in physical education and ability to incorporate new ideas and technologies into the curriculum.
