Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer IV to join our team at Pro2Serve. As a critical member of our organization, you will be responsible for performing Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) Engineering job functions, including oversight reviews of NCS evaluations, NCS inputs to engineering for system/facility design, and characterization, D&D, demolition, and disposal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track and trend NCS performance.
  • Prepare oversight reviews of NCS Evaluations (NCSEs) and NCS Determinations (NCSDs), calculations, and other PPPO contractor NCS Program documents.
  • Perform oversight reviews of PPPO contractor nuclear maintenance and NCS operability or engineering evaluations when necessary.
  • Perform oversight review of PPPO contractor disposition of problem reports.
  • Perform project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress and preparation of procedures.
  • Identify and evaluate project issues and problems.
  • Prepare forecasts, quality take-offs and change orders.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate potential technologies.
  • Perform research to analyze and validate design or theory concepts.
  • Responsible for technical ownership of assigned NCS projects.
  • Subject matter expert for multiple assigned NCS projects.
  • Responsible for training preparation and facilitation.
  • Evaluate operations and proposed modifications to determine compliance with applicable DOE and industry consensus standards, federal, state or local statues and regulations as well as project/company policy.
  • Prepare NCS health recovery and improvement plans.
  • Perform oversight reviews of PPPO contractor preliminary and final specifications and designs.
  • Lead role for projects as assigned.
  • Partner with senior NCS Engineers in completing assigned engineering tasks and job functions.
  • Ensure compliance with DOE regulations and standards.
  • Interface with other technical and production organization to compile technical information required for document preparation.
  • Interface with other groups inside and outside the organization and management.
  • Serve as a resource for lower level positions.
  • Provide assigned technical or functional support to team members.
  • Perform a variety of tasks complex in nature.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge of and demonstrate ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and perform assigned duties in a safe manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in science or engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Twenty years' experience in NCS, including development of NCSEs or directly applicable experience.
  • Recent working knowledge of MCNP, KENO or similar models and use of double contingency principle.
  • Knowledge of DOE and nuclear industry criticality safety standards and requirements.
  • Ability to perform independent criticality safety reviews of nuclear facilities, criticality safety evaluations, and facility safety basis documents to ensure that applicable DOE and nuclear industry requirements are met.
  • Experience in principles of nuclear physics, chemistry, mathematics, mechanics of materials, and the ability to read process and equipment drawings.
  • Experience in supporting DOE operations and designs.
  • Gaseous Diffusion Plant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NRC experience.
  • D&D, D&R or S&M project experience.
  • Nuclear facility experience.
