Job Overview

The Electrical Systems Specialist - Energy Commissioning Expert will play a critical role in providing commissioning services for new and existing buildings, ensuring the seamless integration of electrical systems and equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, combined with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.



Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:




  • Performing electrical engineering document and shop drawing peer reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Preparing electrical systems/equipment commissioning documents and witnessing functional testing
  • Conducting installation reviews of electrical systems/equipment, including power, grounding, emergency power systems, lighting, and lighting control systems
  • Developing and executing substation equipment test procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Providing technical instruction, mentoring, and guidance to field testing technicians
  • Developing testing & commissioning departmental and project requirements, ensuring compliance with QA/QC processes
  • Consulting with clients on testing and commissioning projects, and producing commissioning reports and meeting minutes
  • Managing multiple commissioning projects, including overseeing the work of Commissioning Technicians


Requirements

To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess:




  • An Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power & Controls
  • At least 10 years' experience in electrical systems, engineering, and design
  • Commissioning Certification from ACG, BCxA, ASHRAE, or equivalent
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical industry standards, with experience in construction processes and electrical systems installation and functional test reviews
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with the owner, contractor, and design team in a professional manner
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with HVAC systems and controls, with a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing teams and projects
  • Attention to safety, with a commitment to ensuring a safe working environment
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with experience in the use of testing equipment and tools


Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Master Electrician certification, or equivalent experience in building construction and codes is preferred.



Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Bernhard LLC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
