As a key member of our team at MISO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the power grid. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze future operating conditions on the Bulk Electric System (BES) and determine the necessary actions to allow maintenance of existing and construction of new electrical facilities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building power system models in EMS/PSSE for near-term and long-term analysis
  • Running power flow, contingency, and voltage/transient stability analyses
  • Identifying outage-driven congestions and mitigation options necessary for grid reliability and energy market efficiency
  • Making decisions to approve, reschedule, or deny Outage works based on detailed engineering analysis and results
  • Coordination outages with MISO's stakeholders on best practices and timeliness of outage planning
  • Creatively originating, participating in, and leading innovative automation projects and process improvement efforts as needed in a changing power system space
  • Collaborating with other MISO internal teams like Real-time Operations, Market Operations, Transmission Planning, and others to ensure system reliability, resilience, and efficiency

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
  • At least two years of relevant work experience
  • Preferred candidates will have completed courses in Power Systems
