Supervisor: Director of the Chinese program

Compensation: Standard Hourly Rate

Position Purpose:
The primary objective of this role is to support faculty members in the Asian Studies department with their instructional and research activities.

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Reliability and punctuality;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with faculty members in the Chinese program;
  • Organize and facilitate tutoring sessions for students enrolled in Chinese courses;
  • Assist in evaluating student assignments and quizzes;
  • Support faculty in Chinese-related events and activities;
  • Help prepare course materials and complete assigned projects.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates majoring in Chinese or Asian Studies, particularly those with native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Completion of Chinese 232 with a grade of A- or higher, or equivalent native language proficiency;
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality;
  • Strong interpersonal and Mandarin language skills;
  • Punctuality in providing feedback and attending meetings;
  • Passion for promoting and teaching Chinese language and culture.
