Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Healthcare Coordinator in the nursing unit. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing general clerical and receptionist duties, including medical record maintenance, order processing, typing, and/or word processing, and materials management functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist visitors, nursing staff, and members of the healthcare team
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Perform Nursing Assistant duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Nursing Management Associate

Requirements:

  • Ability to use multi-line telephone
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Possesses basic computer knowledge and knowledge of medical terminology
  • Organizational, problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and able to work independently with minimal supervision and thrive on change
  • Ability to interact and communicate with people over the telephone and/or in person, often in stressful situations in a courteous manner
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of patient medical records and clinical documents
  • Skillful in the use of Hospital computer systems related to ADT order entry, requisitions, lab inquiries and other computerized processes and related software/hardware applications
  • Knowledge of clinical procedures and operations
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment ordering and inventory control
  • Clerical, word processing and office skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instruction and safety precautions
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Work Experience:

Nursing Assistant or Health Unit Coordinator experience in a hospital setting preferred.

License/Registration/Certification:

Certified Nursing Assistant highly preferred. Current CPR training required.

Education and Training:

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of the UMC HUC training program within 6 months of being in the position. Completion of one of the following:

  • Completion of a formal nursing assistant, medical assistant or equivalent training program; or
  • Completion of a Fundamental Nursing registered nurse training program; or
  • Graduate of an international registered nurse equivalent program
