About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic to join our team at PurposeEnergy LLC. As an Industrial Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repair of equipment at our industrial food and beverage anaerobic digestion facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and perform work on plant and equipment, including:
    • Pumps, motors, gearboxes, piping, racks, and supports.
    • Controls, instruments, control panels, and low-voltage wiring.
    • Heat exchangers, glycol loops, CIP flushing.
    • Biogas-fueled 300-1,000kw generator, oil changes, filter changes, lash valves, fluid checks.
    • Repaint equipment and interior and exterior surfaces; operate manual and power tools.
    • Fabricate and make repairs using welding and cutting on various metals.
  • Fill in as a plant operator when necessary.
  • Log and schedule all work in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Contribute to team effort maintaining permit requirements as needed and assisting wherever necessary.
Required Skills
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with equipment, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Knowledge of pipefitting, welding, and elementary mechanics.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, PIDs, maintenance manuals, and manager directives.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and to make required repairs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Skill in the use of tools and equipment required by the work.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, PDFs, O&M document downloading, datalogging, and timesheets.
  • Familiar with PLCs, instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, pH), and electrical/troubleshooting, preferred.
  • Welding, fabricating, fitting, and rigging, preferred.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of relevant construction and/or industrial maintenance experience.
  • Higher level of mechanical aptitude, knowledge of how processes and equipment are integrated.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements
  • Indoors and outdoors throughout the year, standing, bending, climbing, lifting up to 75 lbs., working overhead, on the ground, on ladders, on tanks, in pits. Similar to industrial construction tasks.
  • Employee should have their own basic hand and cordless work tools. Company will provide larger and/or specific tools and PPE.
  • Pre-employment mobility performance evaluation exam required.
Travel
  • Current work is split between two facilities approximately five miles apart in South Burlington, VT, with travel twice a week to a farm digester in Highgate, VT, and Middlebury, VT location coming online in early spring.
  • Up to one day a week in the regional office, 4-5 days per week traveling to area facilities.
Compensation and Benefits
  • $25 - $35 / hr. depending on relevant experience.
