The Student Sustainability Coordinator plays a vital role in promoting environmental and social sustainability efforts at North Seattle College. This position involves representing student perspectives on the Sustainability Committee, organizing events, and conducting outreach to engage the campus community in sustainability discussions. Additionally, the coordinator will manage the college's sustainability social media presence and research various sustainability initiatives.

This is a part-time role, requiring 10 hours of work per week, primarily Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM. The specific schedule will be established quarterly in collaboration with the hiring manager.

Interview Process:
North Seattle College is currently conducting hybrid remote and on-site operations. Interviews will be held virtually via video or teleconference. If selected for an interview, please be prepared for a virtual meeting.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Sustainability Manager, the Student Sustainability Coordinator will:
  • Act as a student representative on the Sustainability Committee, which includes attending meetings, taking notes, researching sustainability topics, and gathering student feedback on committee projects.
  • Organize events and conduct outreach to promote sustainability topics on campus, including planning monthly events, managing budgets, and participating in other college events.
  • Oversee the college's sustainability social media channels, which involves creating educational content, promoting events, and writing brief articles.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Must be an enrolled student at North Seattle College or affiliated programs for the upcoming academic year.
  • Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits per quarter during the academic year (excluding summer).
  • Must uphold a minimum quarterly/cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • Must commit to a minimum of 6 months (2 quarters).
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse student population across various backgrounds.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work typically occurs in an office setting, utilizing standard office equipment.
  • Frequent interruptions may occur throughout the workday.
  • Regularly required to provide individual support, present to small groups, and perform computer-related tasks with repetitive motions.
