Role Summary: As a Counselor at the Pregnancy Resource Center, you will be instrumental in offering emotional guidance, evaluations, and resources to women facing unplanned pregnancies. Your duties will encompass:

Welcoming Environment:
  • Provide a friendly and inviting atmosphere for clients, ensuring they feel safe and supported.
  • Exhibit a nonjudgmental demeanor, allowing each individual to feel valued and understood.
Initial Evaluation:
  • Engage with clients to understand their feelings and intentions regarding their unplanned pregnancy.
  • Assess potential risks associated with both continuing the pregnancy and possible vulnerabilities linked to abortion.
Identifying Needs:
  • Recognize the unique challenges and needs of each patient during this pivotal time.
  • Collaborate with clients to gain insight into their specific situations and concerns.
Resource Provision:
  • Offer information about available resources, support services, and community programs that can aid clients in making informed choices.
  • Educate clients about the various classes and services provided by the Pregnancy Resource Center.
Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
  • Communicate assessment results and client needs effectively to the nursing staff, ensuring a unified approach to patient care.
  • Work alongside the healthcare team to create and implement a comprehensive care plan tailored to each client.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, or a related discipline.
  2. Certification or License in Counseling or Life Coaching.
  3. Experience in social work, ideally within a healthcare context.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  5. Capability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  6. Empathy, compassion, and a dedication to client-centered support.
  7. Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
