Job Summary
The School Cafeteria Assistant plays a vital role in preparing and serving meals, supporting daily kitchen duties, and working independently in a fast-paced environment. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with two years of related work experience considered in lieu of education. Proficiency in basic math and attendance at the ASD Serving It Safe food safety course are also essential.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in food preparation, cooking, and heating meal orders
Demonstrate understanding of sanitation and food service practices
Work independently in a fast-paced environment
Sort and store food deliveries, reporting supply shortages
Assist with basic inventory needs and record keeping
Operate a point of sale system, make change, and count daily receivables
Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years of related work experience (considered in lieu of education)
Proficiency in basic math
Attendance at the ASD Serving It Safe food safety course

Preferred Qualifications
Experience using a touch screen point of sale system and knowledge of cashiering practices
Previous food service experience

Work Environment
This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also necessary. The employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
