Job Overview
DCS is seeking a proficient Mobile Heavy Equipment Technician who will be responsible for executing repairs and maintenance on diesel and gasoline vehicles and machinery, under the supervision of the Shop Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Address urgent projects as a priority.
- Conduct repairs as instructed.
- Assess vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic evaluations, identifying worn or damaged components.
- Ensure equipment availability by adhering to preventive maintenance schedules, implementing component upgrades, and managing corrosion control.
- Assist in the fabrication of new machinery as directed.
Technical Duties
- Rectify vehicle issues by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, including power and drive trains, electrical systems, air conditioning, fuel systems, emissions, brakes, steering, and hydraulics.
- Verify vehicle performance through test drives and system adjustments.
- Adhere to federal and state vehicle regulations by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Conduct field visits in emergencies or sudden breakdowns.
Operational Maintenance
- Maintain shop equipment by following operational guidelines, troubleshooting issues, managing supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.
- Ensure supply readiness by conducting inventory checks, placing orders, and confirming receipt.
- Enhance job knowledge through participation in educational opportunities and by reviewing technical and regulatory publications.
Work Environment
- Uphold the reputation of the maintenance department and organization by taking ownership of new and diverse requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job outcomes.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A technical training course in Mechanics is preferred.
Experience:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- A valid driver's license with a minimum of 3 years of clean driving history is required (Pre-employment MVR background check will be conducted).
- Willingness to travel away from home for one week at a time, with lodging and per diem covered by DCS.
- A minimum of 3 years of mechanical experience in diesel and gasoline engine repair.
- At least 2 years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience using small hand tools, chainsaws, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working on mowers, skid steers, tractors, and other heavy machinery.
- Proficiency in understanding blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical manuals.
