Job Summary

We are seeking highly qualified Adjunct Faculty members to teach in our Adult Education and English Language Learning programs. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will play a key role in delivering quality education to our students and contributing to the success of our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction
    • Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction in assigned courses, aligning with the College's core values and curriculum standards.
    • Establish a professional and safe learning environment, modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior.
    • Maintain a positive climate for learning, performing classroom management and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Student Support and Services
    • Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
    • Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by FERPA.
    • Submit grades within the expected timeframe and provide timely verbal and written feedback to students.
  • Professional Development and Collaboration
    • Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
    • Assist with student recruitment and promote the College's programs and services.
    • Maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, community, and industry partners.
    • Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices.
  • Other Duties
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Adult Education.
Requirements
  • Adult Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in elementary education, secondary education, adult education, special needs education, or Wisconsin DPI Secondary Education license in a core academic area (Math, Science, English, Social Studies) or Special Education.
  • English Language Learning (ELL): BA/BS with 20 semester credits in one or a combination of the following: English as a Second Language (ESL), Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL), Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Applied Linguistics; Bilingual Education, and/or Foreign Language Instructor or Wisconsin DPI license in English as a Second Language.
Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) Competencies
  • Curriculum & Assessment: Use a performance-based curriculum to guide learning and assessment, integrate formative and summative assessments aligned to outcomes, use data to inform decision-making about the teaching and learning process, and communicate feedback to promote student learning and engagement.
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Analyze how your identities influence student success, use resources to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the learning community, and cultivate an inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of every learner.
  • Student Success: Examine the variety of factors that influence student success, utilize varied strategies for managing inclusive learning environments, and utilize college/community resources and services available to support teaching and learning.
  • Teaching Methods: Implement evidence-based instructional strategies, develop a plan for learning, facilitate learning, utilize technology to enhance learning experiences, and adapt teaching practice to meet student needs.
