Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a full-time Veterinary Diagnostic Microbiologist to join the Department of Comparative Pathobiology and the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. The successful candidate will serve as the head of the ADDL's Bacteriology and Mycology laboratory, overseeing daily diagnostic testing, new test development, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with clients, including clinical veterinarians, producers, and owners, to provide expert diagnostic services.
  • Teach DVM and Veterinary Nursing students, as well as train residents and graduate students, in the field of diagnostic microbiology.
  • Maintain a program of scholarly activities, including research and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to shared committee work and other assignments as needed at the ADDL, CPB department, college, and/or university level.

Qualifications
  • DVM (or equivalent) or Ph.D. (or equivalent) in microbiology (or related field) conferred at the time of appointment.

  • Record of communication of test results and interpretations to clinicians.
  • Record of supervision of laboratory staff.
