About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Admissions Planner to join our team at Mount Sinai Hospital. As an Admissions Planner, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date hospital-wide census and patient bed availability information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date hospital-wide census and patient bed availability information, including all care centers, units, Emergency Department, the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Intra-Hospital Transfer Service, and physician's offices.
  • Take initiative to anticipate problems, think creatively, generate reports, and assume other duties as assigned.
  • Pre-admit patients to units or care centers, including taking reservations and obtaining demographic and insurance data.
  • Admit patients, including verifying demographic and insurance information, and signing of forms.
  • Maintain census and charge information, including assigning beds to incoming patients, updating Admissions, Discharge, Transfer System, and compiling information for proper charge capture.
  • Maintain accurate patient incoming and outgoing logs, patient arrival, and updates in computer.
  • Facilitate direction and priorities for Support Associates to clean dirty beds for easy patient placement.
  • Answer telephones promptly, provide information, and make referrals when appropriate.
  • Operate the pneumatic tube system when required.
  • Print physician prescription cards on an as-needed basis.
