Job Summary

The Assistant To, Grade D position at Hofstra University is a dynamic opportunity to support the Office of Field Placement. This role involves providing administrative assistance to the Associate Dean for External Relations and Field Placement, ensuring seamless fieldwork placements for preservice teachers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate approximately 350 participant-observer and observer-only fieldwork placements each semester in schools on Long Island and New York City.
  • Facilitate the processing of participant observer applications in the pre-approval phase.
  • Communicate daily with schools/school districts via phone and email to finalize field placement arrangements.
  • Compose letters of request to schools/school districts for each student placed in the field.
  • Monitor receipt of approval for each field placement and resubmit requests when necessary.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for communicating with students, supervisors, and professors regarding field placement arrangements.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent multitasking and accuracy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Detailed-oriented, self-motivated, and well-organized individual preferred.
