Overview
The Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist I is responsible for evaluating and treating individuals experiencing challenges with speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive functions. This role involves the implementation of tailored care strategies utilizing evidence-based practices, alongside educating patients and their families to enhance recovery and achieve established functional objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough assessments of patients with various communication and swallowing disorders to evaluate their oral motor and language capabilities.
- Develops and executes personalized treatment plans grounded in assessment results, patient aspirations, and specific needs.
- Provides education to patients and their families regarding treatment approaches, home exercises, and self-management strategies to optimize recovery.
- Tracks and documents patient progress, treatment results, and responses to interventions, making necessary adjustments to care plans.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to formulate and implement discharge strategies and recommendations for ongoing care, seeking guidance as needed.
- Communicates updates and progress to relevant parties, including family members and healthcare professionals.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Required: Master’s degree in Speech Pathology.
Experience: Not specified.
Licensure/Certification: Required:
Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligibility through a Clinical Fellowship Year. Must be licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during the Supervised Experience Year. BLS (CPR) certification from the American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
