About the Role

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Room patients and families to exam/procedure areas, ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of patients.
  • Document vital signs and other patient information, adhering to clinic policies and procedures.
  • Assist with procedures as directed by healthcare providers, demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and well-being.
  • Conduct clerical tasks, patient transport, cleaning, and restocking of exam rooms to maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses, abnormal vital signs, and new/existing pain, escalating concerns to RNs and/or providers promptly.
  • Perform blood draws as directed, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, acting as a liaison between patients/families and healthcare providers.
Requirements
  • Completion of a medical assistant program offered by a school accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • Education enabling obtainment of Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and familiarity with the State's conduct and standards of practice.
  • Interim Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and familiarity with the state's conduct and standards of practice.
  • Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington State and familiarity with the State's conduct and standards of practice.
  • Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course) and renewal required every two years.
  • Proficient in email and word processing systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve.
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to follow direction and guidance.
  • Ability to recognize limitations and seek help.
  • Ability to identify learning needs and plan learning opportunities.
