Position Overview
This is a 12-month limited-term role that may extend to 24 months with potential for permanent placement. The position is based in Sacramento.

Under the supervision of the Field & Policy Support (FPS) Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) undertakes significant, diverse, and intricate technical and analytical assignments aimed at fulfilling the mission of the California Department of Aging (CDA) and the Community-Based Adult Services (CBAS) Support Bureau. The AGPA will collaborate within a team setting, working closely with CBAS Bureau certification teams, support personnel, CBAS center staff, and various stakeholders. This role requires active participation in team decision-making, strategy development, and problem-solving initiatives. The responsibilities necessitate a high degree of analytical and research capabilities, strong writing proficiency, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of CBAS services.

New state candidates will be compensated at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement in the alternate range may depend on the education or experience outlined in the state application.

Examination Process

Working Conditions

  • The physical work location is designated at the department's headquarters, featuring a three-story building with standard office modular workspace.
  • The role requires prolonged periods of sitting while utilizing a personal computer, reviewing documents, and participating in meetings, whether digital or in-person.
  • Statewide travel may be required up to 5%.

Department Information
The California Department of Aging (CDA) administers programs for older adults, adults with disabilities, family caregivers, and residents in long-term care facilities across the State. The Department manages funds allocated under the federal Older Americans Act, the Older Californians Act, and through the Medi-Cal program.

Special Requirements
This position is subject to the Conflict of Interest Code, requiring the appointee to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and annually thereafter. Non-compliance may void the appointment.
