Position Overview: Structural and Thermal Engineer

We invite you to join our dynamic team where your contributions will enhance our reputation for quality and responsiveness. In this role, you will take charge of conducting static, dynamic, and thermal analyses to support the design phases of in-space rocket thrusters, utilizing both hand calculations and advanced finite element methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the analysis team to foster growth and expertise.
  • Establish standard practices for structural finite element analysis (FEA) and hand calculations.
  • Conduct finite element analyses, from basic linear static assessments to intricate non-linear and dynamic evaluations.
  • Identify potential failure modes and propose effective solutions to design and product engineers promptly.
  • Coordinate and provide technical guidance to engineering teams throughout projects.
  • Perform preliminary sizing trade studies considering structural and thermal constraints while optimizing weight.
  • Apply relevant NASA and industry standards to ensure compliance with safety requirements in flight designs.
  • Document all analyses comprehensively, detailing inputs, methodologies, and outcomes for clear communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or a related Engineering discipline (Advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA), particularly in aerospace applications.
  • Proficiency in ANSYS Mechanical.
  • Experience with various analysis methods including elastic static, elastoplastic static, thermal dynamics, and fatigue analysis.
  • A collaborative team player with leadership qualities, capable of working effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and driven, able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and technical environment.

Travel Requirements:

  • Local travel may be required during the transition of facilities.
