Job Overview

Position Summary: The Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in advocating for manufacturing processes and customer satisfaction, ensuring that new product launches exceed the quality standards of existing products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary champion for quality in manufacturing operations, ensuring superior product launches.

• Utilize established metrics to monitor and report on quality performance effectively.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage and drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for quality-related issues impacting operations and customer satisfaction.

• Communicate current quality challenges internally, including problem descriptions, status updates, root cause analyses, and timelines for resolution.

• Provide production support and ensure compliance with established systems.

• Verify and validate all changes related to product design, suppliers, reliability, equipment, and components.

• Coordinate with various departments to ensure that supplier and internal changes are fully qualified post-implementation.

• Undertake additional projects and responsibilities to meet ongoing business requirements.

• Conduct audits for products, processes, suppliers, and ISO 9001 compliance.

• Offer quality support to other facilities as necessary.

• Manage and assist with third-party audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with UL, ETL, EN, ISO, and other standards.

• Provide mentorship and support to quality technicians, inspectors, and auditors.

• Develop, maintain, and enhance quality procedures, documentation, and forms.

• Oversee calibration processes and support quality lab operations.

Nature & Scope:

• Applies practical knowledge typically gained through advanced education and relevant work experience.

• Encouraged to pursue continuous improvement initiatives.

• Handles a variety of straightforward assignments with a degree of independence under general supervision.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities, capable of managing multiple projects with urgency using the PDCA approach for effective results.

• Six Sigma and/or Quality Engineering certification is advantageous.

• Proficient in transforming data into actionable insights using statistical methods for problem-solving and decision-making.

• Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Minitab, Excel (including pivot tables), Tableau, and MAPICS.

• Excellent problem-solving skills to identify root causes of quality issues and lead multidisciplinary teams in developing and implementing solutions using methodologies like DMAIC, Design of Experiments, FMEA, and lean techniques.

• Strong understanding of engineering standards and drawing interpretation.

• Effective communication skills, including the ability to develop presentations and facilitate meetings, ensuring clear information dissemination.

Competencies:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of recent experience in a Quality Engineering role is preferred.

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or a related science field. ASQ or CQE certification is highly desirable.
