Job Overview

Position: Quality Assurance Engineering Manager

Compensation: $100,000 - $140,000

Location: Houston, Texas

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role encompasses a variety of duties, including but not limited to:

  • Oversee the Quality Assurance Department to guarantee that products and projects adhere to established specifications. The equipment involved includes (but is not limited to):
  • Fired Heaters
  • Boilers
  • Syngas Reformers
  • Waste Heat Recovery Units
  • Develop all quality assurance-related project documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans.
  • Review and authorize all quality assurance-related project documents, including but not limited to Weld Procedures, Weld maps, Welder Qualifications, NDE Procedures (Radiography, MT/PT, Hydrostatic Test, PMI, Load testing...), and Vendor ITP.
  • Engage in Project Constructability Reviews.
  • Utilize inspectors to expedite the resolution of quality assurance issues to ensure timely delivery of fabricated equipment as required by the projects.
  • Lead and participate in Pre-Inspection Meetings.
  • Provide administrative and supervisory guidance to staff, including inspection coordinators.
  • Collaborate with Clients, PCD departments, vendors, third-party inspectors, and Authorized Inspectors to ensure all quality assurance requirements and issues are addressed.
  • Ensure adherence to all departmental procedures, policies, and work regulations.
  • Supervise departmental operations to ensure an efficient and technically sound quality assurance function across all projects.
  • Work alongside project managers to ensure compliance with laws, codes, specifications, and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance standards and procedures.
  • Establish and update quality assurance procedures as necessary.
  • Participate in departmental audits.
  • Must be capable of visiting vendor facilities (both domestic and international) to uphold the highest quality standards for products.
  • Assist in reviewing specifications and quality assurance requirements during proposal phases.
  • Support the organization in meeting quality assurance needs.
  • Contribute to the global initiative to streamline quality assurance procedures and documentation, providing support to other offices as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 8 years of technical experience, with at least 3 years in a management-level role.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the Manufacturing/Fabrication sector and EPCs, including prior quality assurance experience.
  • Experience with Fired Heaters, Waste Heat Recovery Units, Syngas Reformers, and Boilers.
  • Thorough understanding of Inspection and NDE requirements of API 560, ASME (Sec I, VIII, IX, B31.3, B31.1), and applicable ASTM standards.
  • Familiarity with CSA standards.
  • API 936 Certified Refractory Inspector.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Certified NDT inspector per SNT-TC-1A or NAS 410.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions.
  • Capability to work in both shop and field environments.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Proficient in Windows-based software programs and Document Management Software such as Aconex.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid TWIC card.
  • Must achieve certification for API SIFE – Source Inspector Fixed Equipment.
