Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Jeremiah Program. As a Child Development Specialist, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for our young students, promoting their social, physical, verbal, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a well-organized and safe classroom environment that fosters learning and growth.
  • Curriculum Development: Implement and post cross-cultural, developmentally approved curriculum for children, utilizing the ASQ tool and Teaching Strategies GOLD platforms as guides.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete files for children, including emergency cards, field trip and conference forms, attendance, CACFP, and accident/incident reports.
  • Supply Management: Manage classroom supplies and materials, reporting needs to the CDC Director.
  • Meal Service: Serve meals according to USDA/CACFP meal portion guidelines.
Direct Service
  • Lesson Planning: Develop lesson plans through approved curriculum to ensure the entire class's progress, taking notes as required.
  • Parent Engagement: Develop and maintain positive, respectful relationships with parents, working with them to enhance their child's education and development, and providing resource referrals for parental questions and concerns.
  • Supervision: Ensure children are supervised at all times in the classroom, hallways, and offsite.
  • Communication: Communicate classroom activities daily with parents regarding changes in their child's development, behavior, and well-being, completing daily written reports.
  • Growth Planning: Develop growth plans regarding the child's development and other support resources in collaboration with parents, co-teachers, and the Family Coach when necessary.
Program Support
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including CACFP and state licensing requirements.
  • Confidentiality: Provide and promote healthy boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Volunteer Management: Leverage volunteers and interns to increase organizational capacity within the Child Development Center.
Requirements
  • Experience: 1+ year Early Childhood Education Experience preferred.
  • Education: Willingness to serve children from 6 weeks (Infant) old to 5 years old (PreK).
  • Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification (preferred or a willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Skills: Ability to problem solve, multi-task, complete work on time, and work independently.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of current child development practices.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft and SharePoint.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary: Compensation for this role is set at an hourly rate of $23.00 per hour for a High School Diploma/GED, $25.00 per hour for an Associate's degree, $27.00 per hour for a Bachelor's degree, and $28.00 per hour for a Master's degree.
