FPGA ASIC Research Engineer - Digital Design

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled FPGA ASIC Research Engineer to join our team in Arlington, VA. As a key member of our research organization, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and verifying advanced ASIC and FPGA-based systems addressing problems of national importance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, implementation, and verification of ASIC and FPGA-based systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Develop and optimize digital circuits, including RTL coding and synthesis.
  • Create and execute comprehensive test plans to verify functionality, performance, and reliability of designs using simulation and hardware testing.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and milestones, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and system engineers, to define requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience, or Master's degree.
  • Demonstrated success creating digital designs with Verilog or VHDL.
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture.
  • Demonstrated skills with scripting, revision control, and debugging/maintaining equipment and tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with FPGA-based design and bring-up.
  • Experience with design verification.
  • Effective at verbal communication and giving clear explanations.
  • Familiarity with agile hardware design methodologies.
