Job Summary

The GW Medical Faculty Associates is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team in the Department of OB/GYN. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations and procedures, including but not limited to, SIS, amniotic fluid assessment, fetal viability, limited – detailed – and complete obstetric ultrasound, biometry and fetal wellbeing assessments, fetal Doppler studies, fetal echocardiograms, CVS, amniocentesis, and first-trimester screening.
  • Set up and operate ultrasound and procedure equipment, position patients appropriately, and generate reports on examinations and procedures.
  • Submit billing for patients with appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures, and demonstrate techniques and procedures to students and residents as assigned.
  • Perform decontamination on equipment and maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
  • Current and valid certification in Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) to perform first-trimester nuchal translucency for risk assessment, and certification in OB/GYN with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.

Working Conditions

  • Stand, walk, and reach above the shoulder frequently in a clinical setting.
  • Occasionally lift and carry or push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.
