POSITION OVERVIEW


The Senior Vice President of Global Engineering is accountable for the strategic direction and successful implementation of all new initiatives across ATC facilities worldwide.

This role requires a proactive leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels, capable of addressing urgent tasks as they arise.

Frequent travel, both within the country and internationally, is an essential aspect of this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


As a global role, the SVP of Engineering must be prepared to travel domestically and internationally at least 50-80%, depending on the workload of programs.

Regular presence at all facilities is crucial to maintain oversight of each initiative.


Ensure that the organization establishes and sustains a leadership position in technology related to remanufacturing processes, enabling ATC to maintain or enhance its competitive edge in the market.


Oversee all programs through effective Program Management, ensuring that all initiatives are progressing as planned by allocating appropriate resources, addressing significant challenges through collaboration with clients, and achieving all critical milestones.


Collaborate closely with Business Development teams to secure projects by optimizing capital expenditures, material costs, and labor. This includes crafting technical presentations for clients.


Accountable for the execution and enhancement of ATC's Technology Roadmap, ensuring that the company offers a comprehensive global support and product portfolio that aligns with customer preferences.

Assist the Operational Vice President in developing, monitoring, and surpassing budgetary expectations through ATC's annual operational strategy.

Facilitate the seamless transition of new programs for each plant manager, as well as support program expansions.

Assess potential greenfield or brownfield sites for expansion opportunities.

Conduct regular evaluations of competitive products to establish performance benchmarks against ATC's offerings.

Prepare and implement strategic initiatives in alignment with the roadmap strategy.

Provide mentorship and guidance to department personnel, with a focus on high-potential and successor candidates.


Possess a robust understanding of low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing lines that meet both customer and internal return on investment requirements.

Ensure product compliance with customer specifications and all relevant industry standards.


Collaborate effectively with Plant management teams and Manufacturing Engineers to recover core components that enhance manufacturability, reduce costs, and improve quality.

Drive continuous improvement in warranty costs through thorough review and approval of all warranty claims, including collaboration with customers on warranty reduction initiatives.

Act as a consultant for customer application needs and requirements.


Responsible for developing quality metrics and ensuring ATC meets all quality certifications, including TS16949, ISO9000, ISO 14000, as well as customer-specific certifications.

Additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed timelines and capital expenditure budgets for all new global programs.

Consistently drive cost reduction through targeted savings initiatives.

Develop processes to enhance salvage and recovery rates.


Implement and adhere to lean principles (e.g., Design for Re-manufacturability, Six Sigma) in all Original Equipment products and value engineering projects.

Ensure products are remanufactured in compliance with all applicable industry standards.

Deliver complete, timely custom project design support for accepted projects.

Adhere to departmental and organizational budgetary constraints.

Achieve on-time completion of targeted policy deployment objectives and reports.

Mentor and coach department associates for performance improvement.

Reduce warranty expenses.

Design processes and equipment placement to eliminate safety incidents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering is required. A Master's degree or MBA is highly preferred.


Possess extensive systems knowledge across ICE, HEV, PHEV, and EV powertrain and drivetrain systems.

At least 20 years of progressive management experience directing engineering and technical teams.

Experience in the automotive industry is highly preferred, particularly in powertrain and drivetrain sectors.

Experience in automotive propulsion remanufacturing is advantageous.

Proficiency in Chinese and/or German is a plus but not mandatory.


Lean or Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) certification with a minimum of 10 years of practical experience is preferred but not essential.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence. Capable of effectively communicating with customers and employees within the organization. Must be able to read and understand English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, as well as the fundamentals of statistical process control. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY


Ability to solve practical problems and address a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

ASQC Certified Quality Engineer and/or ASE Transmission Certification is desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Domestic and international travel is a critical requirement. This includes communication with headquarters in North America.

Due to varying time zones, the physical demands of travel and the need to support multiple time zones may result in extended working hours, including weekends.

Travel may necessitate departure on weekends and working through weekends to support programs.
