Department: Skilled Nursing Facility

Status: Full-Time - 40 hours per week

Shift: Days (8am - 4:30pm)

The Nursing Unit Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting our mission and values by assisting the Director of Nursing in the planning, organization, development, and management of daily operations within the Nursing Department, ensuring the highest standards of quality care are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in evaluating residents for admission to the facility.
  • Conduct rounds with physicians as needed.
  • Ensure that nursing care is delivered by qualified personnel, including licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants.
  • Oversee medication administration and treatment schedules to guarantee compliance with prescribed orders.
  • Enhance public relations for the nursing department.
  • Act as nursing supervisor when required.
  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
  • Assist in wound care management or serve as a backup for designated staff.
  • Engage in the development and facilitation of in-service training programs.
  • Design and implement an effective orientation program for new employees, familiarizing them with facility policies and their specific roles.
  • Collaborate with the Director and staff scheduler to assess staffing requirements for the nursing department.
  • Support the Director in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection processes for nursing personnel.
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of performance evaluations for nursing staff.
  • Prepare written and oral reports for the Director regarding nursing department operations as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the facility's quality assurance performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives for nursing services.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as completing medical documentation, reports, evaluations, and charting as necessary.
  • Engage in weekly leadership meetings and daily utilization reviews.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current/Valid LPN license in the State of Ohio is required.
  • Preferred: Two years of supervisory experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related healthcare environment.
