The Nursing Unit Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting our mission and values by assisting the Director of Nursing in the planning, organization, development, and management of daily operations within the Nursing Department to ensure the highest standards of quality care are consistently upheld.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the assessment of residents for potential admission.
  • Conduct rounds with physicians as required.
  • Guarantee that nursing care is delivered by qualified personnel, including licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants.
  • Oversee medication administration and treatment protocols to ensure compliance with prescribed orders.
  • Enhance public relations for the nursing department.
  • Act as nursing supervisor when needed.
  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
  • Assist in wound care management or support designated personnel.
  • Contribute to the development and facilitation of in-service training programs.
  • Design and implement an effective orientation program for new staff, familiarizing them with facility policies and their specific roles.
  • Collaborate with the Director and staff scheduler to assess staffing requirements.
  • Support the Director in the recruitment and selection of nursing personnel.
  • Participate in the creation and execution of performance evaluations for nursing staff.
  • Prepare written and verbal reports for the Director regarding nursing department operations.
  • Help coordinate nursing services with other resident services to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Engage in the development and execution of the facility's quality assurance performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives for nursing services.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as completing medical documentation, reports, and evaluations as needed.
  • Participate in weekly leadership meetings and daily utilization reviews.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid LPN license in the State of Ohio is required.
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
