Our Sales and Merchandising team is dedicated to building a strong foundation for our Independent Operators by providing coaching, development, and support to ensure overall productivity and success in their stores

Successful team members utilize their analytical skills and drive to complete store operations projects on time and provide exceptional customer service to team members, employees, operators, and vendors

About the Role:

The Director, Sales & Merchandising will focus on developing and coaching Independent Owner/Operators (IOs) of all Grocery Outlet stores within an assigned region

You will support the efforts of the Operators in areas such as store sales and merchandising, store appearance, marketing, and profitable business growth

The Director, Sales & Merchandising will report to the Sr. Director Sales & Merchandising

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support IOs in enhancing and developing the Owner-Operator model
  • Develop annual business plans with Operators
  • Foster relationships between Operators and Grocery Outlet Inc.
  • Encourage Operator participation in open dialogue to improve store profitability and success
  • Support the execution of chain, regional, and local marketing efforts
  • Assist in developing new sales and merchandising strategies
  • Evaluate region and store performance
  • Review Store Performance Scorecards and coach/recognize Operators when improvement is needed or performance is achieved
  • Strive for excellence by raising performance standards, ensuring proper presentation, merchandising, and pricing of GOI inventory
  • Monitor and address product handling policies and procedures
  • Assist Operators in complying with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations
  • Evaluate the readiness of Aspiring Operators in Training (AOTs)

About The Compensation:

Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 AnnuallyAnnual Bonus ProgramEquity401(k) Profit SharingMedical, Dental, Vision & MoreFinal compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary based on location

About You:

A degree or equivalent combination of education and experience5+ years of retail management experience3+ years in a multi-unit role preferredReside in or willing to relocate to OregonAbility to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, government regulations, and legal documentsAbility to write presentations and present information effectively to various levels of leadershipAbility to solve practical problems where only limited standardization existsKnowledge of the retail food business, including perishable foods, preferredProven experience and demonstrated knowledge in merchandisingAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to deal tactfully and effectively with all Owner/Operators and coworkersYou have mastered the competencies of partnering and influencingProficiency in MS Office properties, including Excel, Word, PPTWilling and able to travel 50-70% to stores, regional meetings, and corporate offices
